Sauna

Public open-air sauna in Bern, in the Lorrainebad, on the banks of the Aare(directions). Rustic sauna area with 2 sauna yurts (wood-burning stove), reception, lounge and relaxation yurt and other outdoor relaxation areas, 1 hot water shower, 2 toilets and unisex checkroom.
Our sauna is characterized by sweaty löylys (infusions, by arrangement and at the discretion of the sauna guests) in the light of the crackling wood-burning stove.
From the beginning of November to the end of March.

Bring along
  • Bring your own 2 towels (1x non-synthetic towel for the sauna, 1x towel for the lounge area)
  • Bring your own bathing shoes and bathrobe if required
  • If you wish to take a sauna in swimwear or sauna kilts (you are free to decide whether to go naked or wear textiles) – please avoid wearing synthetic fabrics in the sauna if possible
Opening hours
  • Monday = FINTA day*: 10:00 to 21:30
  • Tuesday: 10:00 to 21:30
  • Wednesday: closed, no operation
  • Thursday: 10:00 to 21:30
  • Friday: 10:00 to 21:30
  • Saturday: 09:00 to 21:30
  • Sunday: 09:00 to 21:30

*The acronym FINTA stands for women, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people. FINTA Day is aimed at people who self-identify as such – in other words, anyone who is patriarchally discriminated against because of their gender identity. Cis male people (who were assigned the male social gender at birth and identify as such) are welcome on all other days of operation.

Infusions

Infusion rituals with essential oils, each at a quarter past:

  • every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month, at 12:15, 13:15 and 14:15
  • Tuesday, at 12:15, 13:15 and 14:15
  • Thursday, at 18:15, 19:15 and 20:15
  • Sunday, at 18:15, 19:15 and 20:15

Admission: 25 CHF
Reduced admission (students/culturlegi/AHV/IV): CHF 15
10-pack subscription: CHF 225

Payment possible in cash, by card or by TWINT.

Voucher

Voucher for one admission: CHF 25 (valid until the end of the century)
available on site or in the LOLA (Lorraineladen) at Lorrainestrasse 23 and Brunnmattstrasse 57 – or online in the LOLA online store.

Utilization

If the Lorrainebad sauna is fully booked, there may be waiting times before admission. Our website provides information about the current capacity – so that you don’t walk to the Aare in vain.

Health

Visiting the sauna is not recommended if you have chronic complaints, particularly high blood pressure, cardiovascular or kidney disease. Pregnant women are also advised not to use the sauna. If in doubt, please consult your doctor.

No private groups | We are a public sauna in a public place, so our operation is also public whenever possible.
